Norval Mosher was young at heart, never met a stranger, loved to visit, and truly valued the 4-H program!
He began his career as the Butler County 4-H youth assistant in Allison. After Norval and his wife, Esther, moved to Liscomb to farm with his father and mother-in-law, he was the 4-H sheep superintendent, served on the Marshall County 4-H Youth Committee, and was a member of the Marshall County Fair Board. He served as a mentor to many young people, always encouraging them to do their best.
Norval was a proponent of goal setting, keeping accurate feed records, and learning by doing – and he stressed all of these life skills while helping his son, Jim, and granddaughters, Lauren and Leah, with their purebred Angus cattle projects.
Community service was an important part of Norval’s life. He provided leadership to numerous church, community, county and state boards. Norval loved serving as a director on the Cattlemen’s Beef Quarters at the Iowa State Fair. If there was a job to do, Norval was willing and ready to help. Norval passed away in January 2022 at the age of 92.
