Wendy BurkettWendy Burkett has made many valuable contributions to Madison County 4-H over her eight-year tenure. Wendy spends innumerable hours throughout the year planning club activities, helping members prepare projects and communication presentations, and formulating intentional, active, and educational club meetings. Outside of her regular duties leading the club and officer team, she is also a constant presence at the fair serving in the Fair Food Stand, creating learning experiences for all her members, and generally pitching in wherever needed. She supports her 4-H kids almost as much as she supports her own three daughters who she mentors in their 4-H endeavors, all being extremely active members at the county and state levels.

On March 5, 2022, a tornado destroyed the home of the Burkett family. Through the subsequent trials of finding a new home, gathering their possessions that were strewn across the countryside, and mourning such a tragedy, Wendy remained a steady figure for her club, the Scottish Farm Feeders.  She has seamlessly delegated her usual duties to those willing to lend a hand.

Through all of the struggles that she and her family have faced this year, Wendy still chose to support her community. The 4-H program in Madison County has gained a lot from Wendy being one of our amazing leaders, most of all a shining example of the 4-H pledge in practice.
