The gentleman nominated for the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame from Louisa County was actually raised in the 50s and 60s in Wright County. Living just outside of a town there, he was a perfect candidate for a 4-H club, so his parents signed him up -- and he loved it! After high school he did what so many smart Iowa 4-H’ers do -- he went to Iowa State University!
The Louisa County 4-H Program is lucky to be the recipient of the time and talents of Irv Meier. Irv started in 4-H as a member in Wright County but somehow strayed to FFA as an educator and spent years supporting that wonderful program in several school districts.
Louis County became lucky, as after retiring as the FFA instructor for Wapello School District in Louisa County, Irv came home to 4-H where he has developed an award-winning special interest livestock and meats judging team. Congratulations Irv Meier on your induction into the 4-H Hall of Fame.
