Wendy HagenWendy Hagen has been a tremendous asset to Iowa County 4-H Program.  As a child, her love and passion for 4-H and livestock were evident as a Benton County 4-H’er for nine years.  She was a member of the Fremont Lively Lassies 4-H Club and her projects included: Beef and Child Development.  Wendy recalls when 4-H’ers had an emphasis project in either Clothing, Food and Nutrition, and Home Improvement. These projects are rotated every year.  A favorite 4-H memory of Wendy’s was being selected Grand Champion Beef Female at the Benton County Fair.  A title she earned more than once.  Wendy continued her passion for education attending Iowa State University majoring in K-12 Physical Education.

When Wendy’s oldest son joined 4-H, Wendy began volunteering with Iowa County 4-H as a 4-H Leader of Hilton Willing Workers and has continued for 15 years. Wendy along with her husband Todd, raised two sons, Taylor and Tanner who were extremely active in 4-H at the local and state levels. Both boys could be found attending State 4-H Conference and heavily involved in the Beef & Welding project areas. They participated in the KINZE Award Contest yearly as well.  A favorite memory of Wendy’s as a 4-H Mom is when Taylor won Supreme Beef Female at the Iowa County Fair with a Cow/Calf pair.   Wendy believes in the benefits of 4-H and is constantly promoting 4-H and what it has to offer each individual.  Families are strongly encouraged to attend club meetings and it all starts with COMMUNICATION.  She celebrates the little victories of a first-year member giving their first presentation as much as the older members for all Hilton Willing Workers 4-H Club!

Wendy provides many educational and learning opportunities for all Hilton Willing Workers 4-H Members.  You can count on Hilton Willing Workers working hard on community service projects annually.  All Hilton Willing Workers learn the importance of being active citizens, providing skills to be able to communicate with all age groups.  Under Wendy’s leadership, the Hilton Willing Workers organize Cow/Chip Bingo donating half of the profits to the Iowa County Fair Board for Building Improvements.  Wendy is the perfect example of leaving things better than before.

Wendy has a great passion for working with youth and wants each of them to grow, learn and achieve their dreams.  She has been a true asset and has given so much to Iowa County over the years that it is impossible to acknowledge all her contributions.  Iowa County 4-H is truly grateful for all that she has given to our 4-H program and the youth of Iowa County are better because of the time and talents of Wendy Hagen.
