Shannon SmithShannon Smith has been involved with Davis County 4-H for over 10 years as a leader and volunteer. She started volunteering when her boys were old enough to join 4-H. During this time, she has had a tremendous impact on the lives of many of our 4-H members.

While Shannon did not grow up in 4-H, her contributions to the organization as an adult are the perfect example of a model leader. She has served as the leader of the Kalico Kids 4-H Club, the Goat Superintendent, been a member of the local 4-H foundation and served multiple terms on the Davis County 4-H Youth Committee. She also plays an essential role in planning the Border Bash IMGA goats show and teaching youth about their goat projects.

Shannon goes above and beyond her duties as a 4-H leader making sure that all members feel welcome and always have someone available to go to for help. Her cooperation amongst other clubs does not go unnoticed. Shannon volunteers to help with many events outside of Kalico Kids and is a key component of making sure everyone “keeps their cool.” She is one of the first to arrive to help set up for an event and one of the last individuals to help clean up at the end.

Shannon is always eager to help 4-H members discover their true passions and achieve their goals. Seeing members reach an “aha” moment is one of her greatest joys of being a leader. Shannon definitely has a heart for the children and is very deserving of this award.
