Matt & E'lise Bracker were raised in West Pottawattamie County. Both were members of the Hazel Dell Challengers 4-H Club and exhibited beef projects. Chelsea and Cade were members of the same 4-H club and exhibited beef projects. During those 16 years, Matt and E'lise assisted at 4-H meetings with installation of officers, potlucks, volunteering at food stands and grilling LOTS of hamburgers and helping at clean up days before the fair.
Once the kids finished their 4-H careers, Matt continued to mentor families with their beef projects by providing feed advice and teaching members how to fit their calves before the fair. Matt has provided calves for 4-H sponsored petting zoos and assisted with tree plantings around the fairgrounds. In 2019, he became the market beef superintendent where he organizes weigh-ins, speaks at clinics and manages show day activities for the market beef cattle show.
In 2012, E'lise began announcing for the breeding heifer show and feeder calf shows. She also joined the Westfair Livestock Sale Committee and assisted in creating the sale program along with proofing Westfair's large thank-you advertisement to buyers and volunteers. E'lise also served a two-year term on the West Pottawattamie Youth Committee and as a member helped with beef weigh ins. In 2016, E'lise began clerking the Westfair 4-H Livestock Auction that includes printing and mailing bills for 200 plus head of animals from six species.
West Pottawattamie is pleased to nominate Matt and E'lise Bracker for the 2021 4-H Hall of Fame for their continued support to the West Pottawattamie 4-H Program.
