Jerry Rice was never in 4-H, but his wife Barbara was. Jerry met his wife in grade school but did not know he would wed her until they met again when she was a nurse's aide and he was a patient in a hospital for surgery. They married and moved to California, both graduating from Landcaster College.
Jerry's Grandpa, Dad and Uncle were all policemen. After college Jerry worked as a Forest Ranger in the law enforcement area. He and Barbara raised 4 children and Barb said they lived anywhere there was a tree, experiencing 18 moves throughout the years.
Jerry loved all things outdoors. Barb was surprised when he wanted to help with the 4-H Shooting Sports program for Monona County since he hadn't been in 4-H. Jerry became a leader in 2010. Jerry was trained in archery, air rifle and shot gun. Jerry was leader until 2017 and had to quit because of health issues and passed away in January 2021.
Jerry loved being around kids and did his part in the community bringing much joy to children during the Christmas season by playing Santa for over 30 years. He was a great asset to the community and the 4-H Shooting Sports program in Monona County.
