Lee County would like to recognize Mary Weisinger as our 4-H Hall of Fame recipient for the 2021 Iowa State Fair. We would like to recognize Mary for the numerous contributions she has given to the Lee County Fair and 4-H youth program.
Mary grew up a city girl in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mary has been a part of the Lee County 4-H program and the Lee County Fair since marrying Jeff Weisinger and moving to the family farm in Denmark, Iowa after graduating from Iowa State University. Mary has an unfaltering love for her family, her church, the land, livestock and cooking. Raising two sons, Grant and Drew, and helping with six grandchildren (Owen, Vada, Lana, Rylan, Akron, and Leighton) has been Mary’s greatest accomplishments. Mary exemplifies what it is to be a good neighbor and friend.
Mary has shown her passion for Lee County by serving 19 years on the Lee County Extension Council where she held positions as chairperson, vice president, and secretary for multiple terms. She has been a 4-H Cooking Club leader, inspiring young cooks to try new foods while teaching them new cooking techniques.
She has volunteered in many capacities at the Lee County Fair including judging for the open art hall exhibits and serving on the 4-H livestock auction committee for multiple years, taking many photographs of proud livestock exhibitors. Lee County is proud to recognize Mary Weisinger who cares about the advancement of the Lee County 4-H Program and all the youth and families that it serves.
