Nancy (Finnestad) Borchardt started her 4-H adventure with the Fairfield True Workers 4-H Club in Palo Alto County.
During her 4-H days as a youth, she enjoyed trying new project areas and showing pigs at the county fair. She also took part in the state 4-H conference and the Washington DC trip. Nancy is reminded of her early 4-H days each time she makes a bowl of Jell-O because that was her first club demonstration.
After going to college, Nancy would help the leaders of her club with project workshops when she came home on weekends and breaks. After Nancy got married, the Fenton Forward leader asked her if she would like to be the club’s new leader.
With the help of other leaders, Nancy has served as a leader with the Fenton Forwards 4-H Club in Kossuth County for 33 years. She enjoys working with the youth and watching them learn new skills. She has witnessed the impact of 4-H on youth as 4-H members have come back over the years to thank her for all that she taught them growing up.
Nancy has experienced the value of the 4-H program in her community and is a valued volunteer for the Kossuth County 4-H program.
