Barb RistauFor the past 30 years Barb Ristau has been the face of the Franklin County 4-H Food Stand on the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Hampton, Iowa.

During the 1980's time period, the fair was experiencing a lot of growth, and therefore it became evident that the food stand needed to grow as well.  With Barb's experience in the restaurant business, she knew how to order a steady amount of food as well as make other needed changes in management.  Barb was instrumental in the upgrades in the food stand building.  It went from a simple steel sided building to a finished, insulated building with heat and air conditioning!  The building is now used year around for 4-H and family food preservation programming.

Barb has also volunteered her talents as the county Home Improvement 4-H project volunteer for the past 28 years.  " I volunteered because I really enjoy home improvement, and it is fun to see the different ideas the members come up with!", said Barb.

Barb Ristau is an Extension Families Program Assistant at Iowa State University Extension & Outreach Franklin County, where she specializes in Farmers Market, Financial Counseling, Food Preservation.
