Barb Utech has been a steady voice and mentor for the 4-H program in Dickinson County for 20 years. Prior to retiring to the Okoboji area she was involved in the Plymouth County fair for years as both a 4-H parent and a 4-H volunteer. Barb and a friend used to put on the Plymouth County Cooking School, where 500-600 people would attend.
Upon moving to Okoboji she started working at the Dickinson County Extension Office as an office assistant with her primary duties being 4-H and the fair. Every year volunteers look forward to a call from Barb to help at the fair. She secures the judges and secures the funding for trophies and premiums. The businesses that support the Dickinson County Fair always anticipate Barb’s call. Each Thursday morning of fair you will find Barb at the County Council sponsored Pancake Breakfast helping the youth put on a successful event before the auction.
Barb is a constant source of support for anything needed in the office but she is definitely the “go to” for all things 4-H. Her knowledge and compassion for the program shine through in all that she does!
