Loras and Jolene Bagge were so impressed with how 4-H made a difference in the lives of their children that they continue to support and volunteer for the Delaware County 4-H organization. They find satisfaction in volunteering for 4-H knowing that it gives children the opportunity to participate in the organization. Loras grew up in Delaware County and was a member of the Dyersville Junior Farmers 4-H club where he was enrolled in the swine project area.  Now, Loras is a member of the 4-H Youth Committee and currently serves as chairperson. You will find Loras helping at the fairgrounds before fair starts and during fair week getting things set up for 4-H members’ projects or volunteering at the 4-H food stand. He enjoys fair week as he gets to see the 4-Hers’ success with their fair projects. For his dedication to the organization, Loras was the recipient of the 4-H Alumni Award. Loras and Jolene also sponsor a trophy for the poultry project.

Jolene was a volunteer 4-H leader for the North Fork Kit Kats and North Fork Wildcats for several years. She continues to volunteer during fair week on judging day. She also volunteers at the 4-H Food Stand during fair week. Jolene judges 4-H projects at local fairs and for local club achievement shows. She enjoys seeing the 4-Hers’ creativity and hearing their stories about being in 4-H.  Jolene was the recipient of the 4-H Honorary Award for her countless volunteer hours with the organization.

Loras and Jolene live on a dairy farm southwest of Dyersville. Loras is also a bus driver for Western Dubuque Community School District. Jolene works at MercyOne, Dyersville as a charge nurse and at Beckman Catholic High School and St. Francis Xavier Elementary in Dyersville as a school nurse.

Loras and Jolene are members of the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier Parish.  They volunteer as eucharistic ministers, and Jolene is a member of the bell choir. They have served as General Chair Leaders in the past and continue to volunteer for different functions. They are the current co-chair leaders for the Corpus Christi Picnic. They are also members of the Delaware County Pork Producers where Loras served on the board and as board president. They continue to volunteer at grilling events. They are also members of Delaware County Farm Bureau.

Loras and Jolene have four children: Brian, Krystal, Tim and Nick. All their children are 4-H alumni of the North Fork Wildcats and North Fork Kit Kats Clubs. Jolene and Loras enjoyed helping their children with their 4-H projects. They enjoyed seeing their children grow into independent adults, volunteers, and leaders because of their experience in 4-H.
