Judy Fastenau is from Clarinda in Page County Iowa. Judy and her husband Robert live and farm near Clarinda with their son Allen. Her family from her mother to her great grandchildren have been actively involved in Extension and 4-H for many years.
My family has been involved in Extension and 4-H for many years. My Mother was a member of the Corn Club in Montgomery County in her teens. I was a member of the Pierce Pinnetts 4-H, my daughters were members of the Douglas Duty Doers, and my son Douglas Dynamos. My grandchildren were members of Amity Aces, and Clarinda Classics, my great grandchildren are members of Clarinda Classics, and Shenandoah Teamsters.
I was a project leader when my daughters were in 4-H. My girls were actively involved in horse projects and static exhibits and my son in swine. Every year at the Page County Fair was an adventure!
I spent many early mornings working at the 4-H food stand during the fair, and many hours and late nights at the Extension Office entering livestock information in the computer, ending weights on livestock, making ring sheets, getting ready for the livestock shows the next day and for the 4-H sale.
I served a term on the Page County Extension Council, a term on the Page County Fair Board and have been Treasurer of the Page County Fair Board for over 28 years. I also filled in as the Extension Office Assistant when that person was gone, or sick, or the office was looking for a new OA. Sometimes I would work for several months until a new OA was hired.
I had the privilege of working with Ron Sanson, County Extension Director who is now retired, and Debbie Swanson, Page County CYC. They were professional and knowledgeable about both Extension and 4-H.
Judy has served on the Page County Extension Council, Page County Fair Board, and has been treasurer of the Page County Fair Board for over 28 years.
Judy has been involved in her community in church activities such as Vacation Bible school teacher, bible study groups and she is also a member of Fremont-Page Board of Realtors.
I want to thank everyone who made this recognition possible. I have enjoyed working with 4-H and Extension.
