Jones County is pleased to nominate Joe Yedlik as our 2019 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame inductee.
Joe Yedlik has dedicated his career to the youth of Iowa serving as Vocational Ag Instructor for 20 years before coming to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach for an additional 20 years as the County Extension Education Director of Jones County. Joe has had opportunities to influence more than 1,500 youth in his time of being an educator with FFA and 4-H. Joe is a certified instructor for 4-H Shooting Sports at the local, state and national levels. He has also managed the 4-H Vegtable Show at the Iowa State Fair for many years.
Joe held several committee offices with the Iowa 4-H section of the National Association of 4-H Agents (NAE4-HA), as well as holding national committee positions with NAE4-HA.
Another area of youth programming Joe has been involved with for many years is as Northeast Director and past president of the Iowa Association of Fairs. Joe is also a certified instructor of The Consumer Protection Program. He holds a degree as a Certified Volunteer Fair Management Instructor. Joe has traveled internationally to teach about biosecurity at fairs and has presented at many national conferences about building relationships between 4-H and fairs. Additionally, Joe has been appointed to serve on a committee working with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach to draft policy and memorandums of understanding to strengthen and define relationships between Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and county fairs.
Joe Yedlik has both a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Education — both degrees being from Iowa State University.
Joe has been involved in many community, state and national efforts to offer opportunities to Iowa youth through 4-H, FFA and Iowa fairs. He is recognized and known by many for all his work within Jones County, throughout the state of Iowa and beyond. It is not unusual for someone to approach Joe and share a fond memory of working together on one of his many projects.
