The 2018 Montgomery County Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame recipient has had many titles throughout her 4-H career. These include: 4-H member, leader, committee member, 4-H mom, superintendent and supporter. We are honored to announce this year’s recipient is Teresa Russell.
Teresa started her 4-H journey when she became a member of the Loyal Lincoln Lassies 4-H Club, where she completed many pre-determined exhibits each year for the fair. She participated in 4-H until she graduated from high school.
She was a mother to two lovely 4-H members and for many years, helped them get exhibits ready for the Montgomery County Fair.
Following her mother’s death in 1997, she became the leader of the Sherman Overalls club, and continued to be a leader long after her own daughters had graduated. Teresa’s leadership continued as she served on the Montgomery County 4-H and Youth Committee.
Teresa Russell has been a key component in helping to build the county’s communication program. She served as the communications project superintendent and helped preserve the Montgomery County Fair’s Communication Night which her mother had dearly loved.
She continues to support the Montgomery County 4-H program alongside her husband by sponsoring youth awards and trophies each year for the fair. She can always be seen checking out the exhibit building at the Montgomery County and Iowa State Fair each and every year!
Teresa has continued to encourage youth to be involved in 4-H and values the program as it encourages and educates youth.
