Terry and Erlene Leonard of Colfax, have been actively volunteering with 4-H and fair activities since 1978, when Erlene began leading the Indian Creek Hustlers 4-H Club. Terry & Erlene Leonard

Terry is currently a Jasper County beef superintendent and Erlene is a goat superintendent.  During their years of volunteer service, Erlene has been a former member and president of the Iowa Association of Fair’s board, as well as holding many offices and roles as a Jasper County Fair Board member.

Terry and Erlene have managed campground registrations and winter storage rental at the Jasper County Fairgrounds, in addition to being very valuable volunteers for the beef, sheep, and goat weigh-ins.  No matter the date, time, or weather, they are there, Erlene running the scales and Terry helping with the gates.

They are currently active at the Iowa State Fair working with the Cattlemen’s and sheep producers food booths as representatives of Jasper County.

While members of the Jasper County Beef Producers, they have started a Bucket Bottle Calf practice show for 4-H’ers and younger members in order to practice showing their bottle calves before the fair.

Other educational opportunities the Leonard’s have established include the Brice Leonard Supreme Showmanship Class and Award at the Jasper County Fair, and the IFAA Bryce Leonard Memorial Sheep Scholarship.
