Marilyn Middleton has served Hamilton County 4-H and numerous other counties in the years she has generously given of her expertise to the 4-H program.
Among the many ways she has impacted the youth of our county, most notable may be her 20 years of advocating for 4-H as a board member on our Hamilton County 4-H Foundation.
Marilyn has the innate ability to captivate audiences with her enthusiasm and sincerity as she spurs them into action. Annually, she uses this gift to address our 4-H members and families at our awards night. In her speech, she simultaneously stirs passion towards further involvement from our members, while also encouraging the caring adults to support our program through service and giving. She has also spent years traveling throughout Iowa’s counties as a 4-H judge. Many current and former 4-H’ers remember Marilyn’s judging style as it truly inspired them to “make the best better” as they furthered their 4-H careers.
If Marilyn could tell you what she is most proud of in her years of supporting 4-H she would most likely share with you how 4-H impacted her family and her children’s lives. Her late daughter, Joy, used the years of being an active 4-H member to turn them into an impactful career as an Extension 4-H professional, no doubt in part to the inspiration modeled by her mom.
Hamilton County 4-H is strong, vibrant, and growing thanks to years of service by many such as Marilyn.
