Todd and Donna Boss have served over 30 years in the Delaware County 4-H program. Both are Delaware County alumni, and have been recognized and honored with the Delaware County 4-H Alumni award! You’ll continue to see Todd and Donna volunteering where their assistance is needed throughout Delaware County!
Todd is active on the Delaware County Farm Bureau board of directors. He served on the steering committee that led the efforts for building the new show ring! Todd is also a Prairie Township trustee. His past leadership roles include being a 3-year Prairie Livestock 4-H Club Leader, a 4-H Herdsmen judge during fair week, Delaware County Extension Council. He and Donna have been Co-Swine project leaders since 1991. 2017 was their last Delaware County 4-H/FFA swine show.
Donna was a 24- year Prairie Clovers 4-H Club leader and continues to serve on the Delaware County 4-H Youth Committee. She also served on the Iowa State University Extension Citizens Advisory Council and the ISU Extension-Delaware County Nominating Committee.
Todd and Donna also served on the Delaware County Pork Producers/Porkettes board when the boards were separate. Donna served again when the boards combined and led the efforts to have 25% of all annual pie auction proceeds go toward the updates needed for the swine barn on the Delaware County fairgrounds.
The Boss’ have won numerous swine and leadership awards at the local, district, and state levels. They were honored in receiving the 1998 Delaware County Pork Achievement award. Todd has organized many judging contests, Spring Market Hog Shows, swine project meetings, showmanship, breeding and market animal selection, reading swine production data and helping youth to combine consumer preference with profitability and breeding stock longevity. Today, you can find Todd assisting, mentoring, and guiding our youth with their 4-H/FFA beef projects. You can also find Todd and Donna taking a shift for the Delaware County Cattlemen in the Steer N Stein booth during fair.
Both have been honored receiving the Manchester Area Chamber of Commerce “Friend of Ag” award, judging the National PAS (Post-Secondary Agricultural Students) contest, serving on the Kirkwood Community College Swine Advisory Committee, judging numerous FFA sub-district/district contests, judging numerous 4-H record books awards, and reviewing 4-H scholarship applications.
Todd and Donna are members of the First Lutheran Church in Manchester, Delaware County Cattlemen, Iowa Cattlemen Association, Delaware County Pork Producers and Porkettes, Delaware County Farm Bureau and are parents to Zach (Marisa) and Mikaela (Brett).
