Janice Batterson has been a devoted 4H leader for the past 29 years in Davis County. She always goes way above and beyond the duties of leader to make sure all the members feel welcome, informed, and prepared for events and meetings.
A co-leader said, “My son Carter joined her club Odyssey 9 years ago.” Since then, Janice and I have started a new club DC Wranglers and have grown the club to close to 30 members.
Janice is always willing to help kids with any needs they may have, whether it be for projects to learn more about, record books, or exhibits at the fair. She attends all events at the fair to watch the members and helps them any way she can.
She is always the first one at club meetings and makes sure the meetings are ran professionally, smoothly, and consistently and always the last to leave. Janice will stay after meetings for as long as it takes to make sure all questions are answered. If we do not have anyone presenting at the meeting she makes sure to do a demonstration or talk so the kids are always informed on upcoming events, tasks, or deadlines.
Janice is the type of leader that all leaders should strive to be. Other leaders have learned so much from her and so have all the members.
Janice Batterson deserves the recognition and celebration of her service by being inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame.
