Jim and Sandi Sharp from Denison, Iowa are being honored as the 2018 Crawford County Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame inductees. They have been involved with 4-H and FFA activities for years. Sandi’s 4-H experience began as a 4-Her in Nebraska which led to her interest in teaching Family and Consumer Sciences. Sandi has been involved with the Crawford County 4-H program for over 40 years. Sandi was a leader of the People Pleasers 4-H Club from the late 1970’s into the early 1990’s. She has judged at many surrounding county fairs, giving 4-H youth feedback on the exhibits they were presenting.  Sandi was one of four women who would travel to fairs together. She also judged achievement shows in Crawford County helping youth finalize exhibits for fair.

She served on the Crawford County 4-H and Youth Committee and was Pride of Iowa superintendent. Sandi has also been a clothing event superintendent for over 10 years. Sandi conducted sewing classes to help 4-H youth learn important skills. Not only has Sandi shared her love of sewing with Crawford County youth but she has passed these skills on to her granddaughters.

Jim has been involved with the Crawford County sheep show for countless years. When their children were in 4-H, Jim served as one of the leaders of the Good Handy Helpers 4-H Club. He served on the Crawford County 4-H and Youth committee and as sheep superintendent for four years.  Jim served on the Crawford County Extension Council for 8 years and has helped numerous times with the nominating committee to identify potential individuals to run for Extension Council.

Jim has also been a great supporter of Ag Days (a 7th grade event focused on learning about agriculture) where he lead the soils presentation. He is currently a board member of Crawford County Farm Bureau, where he is a strong supporter of teaching our youth about the importance of agriculture in their daily lives. Jim still raises sheep, trying to raise that perfect lamb.

Jim and Sandi were nominated for their dedication and involvement in the Crawford County 4-H program for over 40 years. They are both always willing to help out when asked and very deserving of this award.

We thank them for their dedication to the 4-H program.
