Kitty DreyKitty began her involvement within the 4-H program over thirty years ago when her oldest son began to show calves at the Sac County Fair. As her daughter and youngest son became involved with projects beyond livestock, so did she.

Kitty served as the “behind the scenes” leader of her kids’ club through organized events during the year (waffle breakfast fundraiser, various events throughout the Sac County Fair, and numerous community-wide events sponsored by their 4-H club). Other 4-H members quickly learned they could rely on her.

Her relaxed, “can-do” attitude always made her so “approachable” to new and nervous members.

When her youngest child left for college, she didn’t let that stop her from being involved in the 4-H program. She went on to serve on the Sac County 4-H Endowment committee and the Sac County Extension Council (currently). It was very evident that during each meeting or event in which the 4-H Endowment or Extension Council was involved, she was often concerned how each possible change might affect 4-H members. Kitty has a way of “nudging” members to go above and beyond and finish that extra project or turn a “situation” into a 4-H community based project.

That is where her heart is. Even today, she stays involved with the community 4-H programs that her kids were involved with years ago.
