Earl SundermanThe 2017 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame inductee from Montgomery County joined the Valley Boosters 4-H club in Page County, Iowa in 1955. He began showing dairy heifers and later went on to show horses.

He was blessed with three children who were all enrolled in the Montgomery County 4-H program. Holly, Leigh Anne, and Philip showed rabbits, swine, and horses. After his youngest, Philip, finished 4-H, he was asked to assist Ron Newman as the Montgomery County rabbit superintendent; a position he has continued to serve ever since. He says he is, “proud to be able to say that the meat rabbit show in Montgomery County is one of the largest, if not the largest, rabbit show in Iowa.”

He credits his wife Becky for always backing him up and supporting him to continue to raise rabbits for the 4-H youth of Montgomery County. He enjoys working with the 4-H kids and their parents. He has also been a valued member of the Montgomery County Fair Board for the past several years.

We are proud to honor Earl Sunderman as Montgomery County’s 2017 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame inductee.
