Alan BrownAlan Brown comes from a strong 4-H family.  The third of three children of Lowell and the late Lorna Brown, Alan followed in the footsteps of his older brother and sister taking an active role in the county 4-H program.  Alan’s mother Lorna was inducted into the   4-H Hall of Fame in 2008.

Alan was active in many aspects of 4-H growing up in Franklin county, from being involved in county council to becoming a project leader while he was still a member. He was awarded the top member award his senior year.

After graduating from Iowa State University, Alan continued as a project leader and was elected to the county fair board knowing that it is so important for the 4-H members to have a place to show and display their exhibits.  Alan’s passion for fairs and his 4-H experience has led him through the years serving as Secretary and President of his county fair board.  While he was President he started the Franklin County Fair Foundation to help perpetuate the future of the fair.

Alan served 8 years as director of the Association of Iowa Fairs and in 2009 was elected to the Iowa State Fair Board where he has served as Treasurer, Vice President and is currently serving as President.
