Head, Heart, Hands & Health; these are all things that are part of Leland & Jeanette Lane’s everyday life. Leland has been active in 4-H since youth as a member and involvement has continued into Leland and Jeanette’s married life as club leaders, committee members, Dairy Promotion Board members and Preston Local Show organizers. They farm 300+ acres, raised dairy, beef and swine and grow/can their own garden produce.
They are parents of 6 children:
Tom (and Robyn) of Maquoketa; Ken (and Karen) of Spragueville; Kathy (and Ron) of Spragueville; Connie (and Brian) of Long Grove; Dan (and Peggy) of Elkader; John (and Jennifer) of Williamsburg
They were all very active in 4-H including: beef, dairy, swine, indoor projects, county council, communications, clothing events, citizenship trips to Des Moines and Washington, DC, county & state exchange programs and many, many more.
Agriculture is very dear to their hearts and they were on the committee that developed a local Ag Scholarship program.
They are very active community supporters and have been involved in 4-H programs, Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Share the Harvest, church boards and committees, school board, Master Farm Homemaker, Master Gardeners, Farm Bureau President and religion teachers.
When Leland & Jeanette are not busy with their farming operation and community events they are attending activities of their 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
