For the past 48 years, Carolyn Oleson has been a 4-H Volunteer in Franklin County! Carolyn began her involvement in 4-H as a member of the Scott Scotties 4-H Club, and later became a leader of that same club when her daughters joined. Carolyn continued lending a helping hand to the organization when she and her husband, Marvin, served on the 4-H Food Stand Committee for over 10 years.
After her children grew out of the 4-H program, Carolyn continues to help with county workshops and evaluates record books as a Food & Nutrition and Health 4-H projects leader. She has also served on the County Extension Council the past seven years.
Carolyn says, "I was in 4-H for nine years and enjoyed it very much. 4-H teaches responsibility and confidence. Later I had the opportunity to be a 4-H leader and help my children and other children grow to be community minded citizens. 4-H is the best place to share your time helping children grow in healthy ways. My family is my world, and I want the best for them. By being involved in 4-H, I enjoyed the journey of watching them have positive experiences. I think this taught our children life is about moments, not the prizes! The best thing about 4-H is watching members work hard knowing it will create memories."
Carolyn believes 4-H is life changing, a life time of friendships, and builds career skills. 4-H teaches responsibility. 4-H was a huge part of her growing up, and teaching others invaluable life lessons.
