Harold and Shirley Anderson have been involved with the Page County 4-H program for many years. They were both 4-H members. Harold was a member of the Fremont Farmers, and Shirley was a charter member of the Shenandoah Tri M’s. They were also club leaders. Harold was the leader for the Shenandoah Teamsters, and Shirley led the Shenandoah Tri M’s. Shirley helped with the outdoor cooking program at the state 4-H camp in Madrid for two years. Both were inducted into the Page County 4-H Honorary and Alumni organization.
Harold and Shirley have dedicated hours and hours of volunteer time and monetary incentives to the Page County Fair. For many years, Harold and Shirley sold tickets at the 4-H – FFA Carnival. Shirley also served on the bake sale committee. Harold and Shirley give a $50 savings bond each year to the winner of the Grand Champion Market Hog and the Champion Beef Carcass in memory of their son, John Anderson. Each year they also show their commitment by buying at the 4-H Livestock Sale.
Harold and Shirley’s greatest contribution has been passing their love and support of 4-H on to their four children and five grandchildren. All have been active 4-H members and are continuing to support the 4-H program by serving on the boards of the Page County 4-H Endowment Fund and Page County Fair, by working at the Page County Fair, and by always saying yes when asked to help.
