Joe and Sue Paulus have been Floyd County 4-H supporters for many years. Their involvement in 4-H began when their children became interested in what the organization had to offer. Joe and Sue have been both parent supporters and community supporters of the 4-H organization for almost 20 years.
During the years that Joe and Sue’s children were involved in 4-H, they provided support by helping them with their fair exhibits and encouraging involvement in club activities. They volunteered with their children’s 4-H club by working in the 4-H food stand at the Floyd County Fair, chaperoning club trips, and always lending a helping hand during meetings and other club activities. Joe also supported the local 4-H groups by serving as a member of the Floyd County 4-H Committee.
In addition to being supporters for their children, Joe and Sue also volunteered their time to other 4-H youth within Floyd County. Sue was an active member of the Floyd County Fair Board where she helped organize fair events and worked with other fair board members to make the Floyd County Fair fun for all ages. Joe and Sue have volunteered countless hours helping with livestock show set-up, beef and swine weigh-ins, 4-H livestock auctions, and the auction buyers’ breakfast. They are currently active members of the Floyd County Cattlemen. Along with other members of the cattlemen, they provide resources and support for youth who are interested in the cattle industry. Joe and his son, Mike, currently serve as the beef superintendents for the Floyd County Fair.
In addition to their involvement in 4-H, they are active members in their church community, county and state snowmobile associations, the Cedar Valley Engine Club, and volunteer many other hours helping their community and their neighbors. Joe and Sue are parents to four children, Melissa Paulus, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Johnson, Mike (Brittany) Paulus, Anna (Cody) Hemann and one grandchild, Brayton Johnson.
