Glen McCullohGlen McCulloh has been involved in 4-H since he was a member of the Mohawk 4-H Club in the 1950’s. He grew up in a 4-H family where he and his brothers were all actively involved. Glen not only showed cattle at the club show, but remembers the thrill of showing at the International in Chicago. His only regret is that he never got to show cattle at the Iowa State Fair.

He was a leader of the Mohawk Club from 1961-1971. One of his favorite things during the year as a leader was to coach 4-H basketball. Both Glen and his wife, Florence were involved in 4-H in those early years, but as Glen retired from being a leader to pursue some leadership roles for 15 years on the youth committee and extension council, Florence continued to be involved with sewing projects, the fashion revue and clothing selection events for many years. An annual award in memory of Florence is given by Glen and his family to a 4-H member who excels in the clothing/sewing project area.

Glen’s four children, Greg, Mark, Rick and Pam were involved in 4-H and now 5 of his 7 grandchildren have also been involved in many project areas from showing cattle to woodworking, photography, working presentations and sewing exhibits. He loves the fair and has taken great pride in watching his grandchildren with their exhibits.

Since moving off the farm in the late 1990’s Glen worked at AgVantage FS mowing grass and drives trucks for Petersen Farms. He enjoys the Tractor Ride and serving on the REC board. He and his wife, Lavonne have been married 16 years and reside in DeWitt.

He can be found getting together with a coffee group at 9:00 A.M., even though he doesn’t drink coffee. Watching or discussing sports of any kind is one of his favorite hobbies as he enjoys them all   Getting together and visiting gives Glen much enjoyment. Glen has very fond memories of 4-H in Clinton County and would be happy to lend a hand anywhere needed.

It is with great pleasure that we nominate Glen for this 4-H Hall of Fame honor.
