Rosemary Peterson has been a strong supporter of the Wapello County 4-H program for many years. She helped start and was the leader of the Polk XL 4-H Club for over 30 years. Many young people benefited from her knowledge and support.
Rosemary was the superintendent of the photography department at the fair for over 10 years. She made sure all of the photographs – and there were hundreds of them – each received a ribbon and was displayed in the right place.
Rosemary’s daughter, Nancy remembers her mother was an achievement show judge during the time when there were emphasis years. During a clothing year, good grooming was also a very important part of the process and Nancy recalls her mother checking the slips of the young ladies as part of the judging.
Now Rosemary is busy with the 4 children (2 boys and 2 girls) that she and her husband raised, as well as the 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. All of them are benefiting from Rosemary’s experiences with the 4-H program.
