Verna Thenhaus, has served Cerro Gordo County 4-H in many, many ways throughout her 30 year career as an office assistant in the Cerro Gordo County Extension Office. While Verna worked for Extension she served under five Extension Directors, “She was still there when we got there, and still there when we went home” said Jim Kuhlman a past Extension Director. Her duties as an office assistant included preparation of fair books, scheduling judges, contacting donors and a hundred other details that all fell on her desk at some point, including the thousands of 4-Hers she helped enroll in 4-H over the years as she served in the Extension Office. Verna passed away earlier in January of 2012, she asked that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the Cerro Gordo County 4-H; showing that her love of our wonderful program and her service never left her heart. Verna will never be forgotten in Cerro Gordo County and a 4-H awards fund has been started in her name.
