Emerson AndersonEmerson (Andy) Anderson has been active with the Webster County 4-H program and Webster County Fair Board for several decades.

He was active as a club leader where one member of the club remembers Andy driving throughout the county to pick up 4-H’ers so they could attend the meeting.

He and his wife, Lavonne, have 3 sons who were all very active in  4-H and showed swine throughout their 4-H careers.

For the fair auction, Andy stated buying hogs for businesses in Fort Dodge and Webster County in 1974.  He continued for over forty years to contact businesses to get extra support to help 4-H’ers who were exhibiting hogs.

Andy was the announcer for the Webster and Humboldt County fairs for many years.  He served as swine superintendent for several years in Webster County.  As superintendent, he would assist youth in finding hogs to raise and exhibit at the fair.

For the Webster County Fair Board, Andy could be seen selling packets to businesses to help sponsor events at the fair.

Andy’s love for the fair was demonstrated every year as he could be seen on the fairgrounds visiting with fairgoers and exhibitors during the week.  He knew everyone and if he did not know you, you would soon learn who Andy was and learn about his passion for the fairgrounds and helping the youth who participated.
