Steve & Jean Trimble are strong believers in the 4-H program and very active supporters of the Pocahontas County 4-H organization. Jean grew up in a family with a rich history of 4-H participation. Her maternal grandparents were 4-H leaders in Kansas. Her parents were both long time leaders in the Pocahontas County 4-H program where Jean was a nine year member of the Powhatan Squaws 4-H Club.
Steve and Jean raised four daughters who were all very active and engaged in 4-H. Jean was a 4-H leader of the Powhatan Pioneers 4-H Club for 15 years (1991-2006). Although Steve was never an official leader he volunteered whatever was asked of him. Jean retired from her 4-H leader role when her youngest daughter graduated from high school, but continues to volunteer whenever asked!
Jean was co-manager of the 4-H food stand for several years, spending countless hours teaching 4-H members life skills, commitment, and ownership of their work.
Although Steve was never a member of 4-H himself, he never missed an opportunity to be involved in his own daughters’ connections in 4-H. He volunteered during fair time with any assignment that needed done.
Steve and Jean continue to be very active members of the 4-H Youth Committee. They help score scholarship applications each year. Both Steve and Jean helped to set up guidelines and establish the Pocahontas County 4-H Endowment.
