Neil WubbenNeil Wubben has been an asset not only to Mitchell County and our program here, but the entire state of Iowa 4-H program.

During the many years he served as the County Extension Education Director, he was an advocate for youth development and ensured that the 4-H program stayed strong in Mitchell County.  He worked with volunteers to develop diversified clubs and embraced new focus clubs for specific project areas.  He involved kids in this process and worked to give ownership to their ideas and instill passion for their ideas.

Education is Neil’s life vocation and he has made a life-long commitment to making an impact on the youth he works with.  One example of this commitment is his development of a canoe trip for intermediate age 4-H’ers with water quality sampling and testing along the way and following up with discussion on the results.

Neil also touched youth and adults through his volunteer involvement at the Iowa State Fair in the livestock beef division.  Neil volunteered each year to help the show remain vital.   After his retirement, he continues to support the 4-H program as a volunteer, holding workshops and sharing his knowledge with youth to make the best better!
