Kay Pagel has been an important part of the Bremer County 4-H program and has always been a positive presence to those involved. Not only is Kay a wonderful 4-H leader and volunteer, she has been an inspiration to many and a friend to all. Kay’s story started in Floyd County as a 4-H member and has continued on in Bremer County. Kay has been involved as a leader during two different stages. When her kids were growing up she led the Do-R-Best 4-H club (1987-1996) and came back on to co-lead with her daughter and help her grandkids with all their numerous projects, which adds up to a total of 25 years of being a leader.
She has graciously opened her home so youth have a safe place to meet for their monthly meetings and assists those who do not have transportation so they can still be involved. She always has a positive attitude, which if she doesn’t know the answer to something, she will get back to you shortly! Kay also enjoys volunteering in the 4-H Food Stand during county fair, assists entering exhibits on non-livestock judging day, is the assistant superintendent for horticulture, and can even be seen running a game at the 4-H carnival. Kay is very active as the treasurer of the Women’s Fellowship in her church and always is willing to lend a helping hand!
Without the dedication of someone like Kay Pagel, the Bremer County 4-H program could not be as successful as it is.
