Bob and Fran Haack of Whiting are dedicated to positive youth experiences and development in Monona County. Both are tremendous assets to 4-H, Extension and to the Whiting community.
Bob taught math and computers at the Whiting High School for 40 years. He also had various coaching positions, served on the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department and the Whiting Community Club. He is still serving as the treasurer of the Whiting Congregational Church and has been a youth leader. Bob served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and is also a Vietnam veteran. He has been a member of the American Legion for 40 year serving as commander of the Whiting Post for 5 years.
Fran is a kindergarten teacher in Whiting. She has invited Extension staff to come into her classroom with Extension programs and to meet with kindergarten parents on a variety of special topics. Fran was the first leader of a 4-H clover kids group in Whiting. She served eight years as a county fair superintendent for clothing events.
Bob served on the Monona County Extension Council for 17 years. He was elected chairman in 1998 and still serves in that position today. He rarely misses a council meeting and is a regular attendee of the Regional Council meetings. He has also made several trips to Des Moines to advocate for 4-H and Extension on Iowa State Legislative Day. Bob and Fran have been strong 4-H supporters over the years assisting their two daughters in 4-H.
Bob and Fran generously give back to the community in many ways. Extension and Monona County youth are fortunate for their hard and caring work.
