2011 Lucas CountyBob and Colene Greubel have farmed all of their married life and also both have been bus drivers for 30 plus years for Melcher-Dallas schools.

Bob was involved in 4-H in his youth and was an active member of the Chariton FFA Chapter throughout high school.

He renewed his involvement with 4-H when their oldest son Craig began showing purebred Herefords. Later when the other children, Lynn,  Lori, Kristi, Jeff, and Mindy began showing, other breeds were added to the cow herd. Other 4-H projects were numerous and included showing horses, hogs, rabbits and many items in the 4-H Building.

Showing cattle was always a highlight for Bob and the children were privileged to have had Grand Champion several times. One year they fit and groomed 16 head of cattle for the county fair. It truly was a family affair.

As his family’s involvement grew, so did his as he served as a 4-H leader, Fair Board member for five years, 4-H Youth Committee for six years and Beef Superintendent for several years.

After 20 years of being a 4-H Dad, 1990 marked the end of one era and the beginning of another as now Bob and Colene are busy watching their grandchildren while Bob continues one of his favorite things which is announcing the Beef Show at the county fair. He says he has the best seat in the house.
