The Emmet County 4-H program is happy to induct David and Robin Enerson into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame in 2011. The Enerson,s have been a very essential part of the Emmet County 4-H program for many years. Their passion for 4-H, and its impact on the youth who participate in it, has been witnessed by many. From their own 4-H experiences as youth, to helping their two sons with their 4-H projects and helping other members of their 4-H clubs, to being involved with many youth at the 4-H program at the county level…Dave and Robin have truly been “Making the Best Better” in Emmet County.
For many years Dave has been the superintendent of the swine committee, which has included many extra tasks of organizing weigh-ins, recording information, ultrasounds, arranging fair shows and showmanship competitions, and securing trucking and buyers for fair pigs. Dave has also lead several welding workshops over the years, where he has taught numerous kids year after year how to weld or improve on their welding skills. For several years, Dave volunteered his time to grill for their sons’ club fundraiser meal. He has also served as a member of the Emmet County 4-H Foundation Committee and the Emmet County Extension Council.
Robin has been an essential part of the 4-H program for the past 15 years. She served as a member of the Emmet County 4-H and Youth Committee for 8 years. Robin has chaperoned 4-H Lock-Ins, been an evaluator for area 4-H Awards, assisted with communications judging day, given out awards at the Emmet County Awards Program, organized the county clothing event, chaperoned the fair teen dance, and took the lead on bucket/bottle calf interviews, judging, and shows. Year after year, Robin has been an important person in the 4-H office on the first day of the fair, sharing her knowledge and expertise with all 4-H families who have questions or need help, always with a smile. Robin has shared her expertise in many areas by leading or assisting with several different 4-H workshops over the years, including bread baking, stepping stones, buckets of flowers, and many more.
Dave and Robin are dependable volunteers, always willing to lend a hand wherever it is needed and they are so appreciated by the Emmet County 4-H program. Congratulations to them both!
