Marlene was nominated by a former 4-Her who thought Marlene truly influenced her life and the couple was nominated by another 4-Her who had them has leaders. Marlene was a member of Jolly Workers and the Vail Volunteers 4-H clubs for 10 years. She held all club offices and was County Council President. Marlene attended State 4-H Conference as a voting delegate and she attended the National 4-H Conference in Washington DC as a 4-Her and again as an adult sponsor when her son, Tim was a delelgate. She co-organized the Denison Diamonds 4-H Club and served as a leader for 11 years. She was also co-leader of the Good Handy Helpers for eight years. Marlene chaperoned the Monona County Exchange trip to Utah.
The couple with their family hosted two 4-H exchange students sharing that experience with others in the county.
Blair was a 4-H member for nine years and a leader for nine years. He served as beef superintendent for five years and sheep superintendent for six years. Both were actively involved in their children’s and grandchildren’s 4-H careers. Marlene worked as Crawford County 4-H Assistant for ten years. Marlene is a member of the 4-H and Youth Committee and still volunteers to help with camps and Clover Kids.
