2011 Van Buren CountySteve Kisling is a strong supporter of youth and 4-H in Van Buren County. Steve was a 4-H member for nine years, a 4-H club leader and assistant leader for four years. Steve is also dedicated to the county fair. He was a fair board member for 21 years, serving the offices of president, vice-president, beef superintendent and livestock sale superintendent. He is the current livestock sale superintendent. During the week of the fair, you can see Steve on the county fairgrounds at any time.

Steve served on the Van Buren County Extension Council for 16 years. He  held the office of president, vice-president, and secretary. He now holds the position of president. Steve attends the ISU/Extension Legislative Day at the State Capitol each year. The Van Buren County Extension council is easily identified at any council event with the matching Extension red monogrammed shirts that Steve has provided.

Steve is a community leader and is involved with the Van Buren County Cattlemen’s Association, the Van Buren County Pork Producers, and a past member of the Lions Association. He is also a Sunday school teacher and a Sunday School Superintendent.

Steve’s love of the fair was influenced by his grandparents. Starting when Steve was five years old, his grandparents took him camping at the Iowa State Fair. Steve has only missed attending the state fair three different years since 1972.
