Paul Steele has volunteered his time as scale master for the Adair County 4-H program for 30 plus years. Paul sees that every market beef and market hog is weighed at the beginning of the fair so they can be properly classed. It doesn't matter if it’s raining buckets or the temperature soars into the 100 degree area, Paul is stamping weigh tickets and visiting with every 4-H'er as they arrive at the fair. Paul tends to volunteer for 4-H in the most extreme weather conditions. He is also the scale master for the December beef within and has weighed in market beef in the frigid cold and blowing snow many times. As 4-H'ers take haven from the cold or the heat in the scale house, Paul takes time to talk to each exhibitor about their project and encourages them.
Paul and his wife Ruby have two children, Bruce and Sue Ellen. Paul helped with the Prussia Pushers 4-H Club during Bruce's
4-H career.
