Max and Linda Jones have been long time supporters of the Wapello County 4-H program. Linda was a nine year 4-H member. They had two sons, Troy and Jason, who were also 4-H members.
Max and Linda were both 4-H leaders for 27 years. Linda was the leader of the girl’s club – the Columbia Gems. Max was the leader of the boy’s club – the Columbia Cyclones. The clubs later combined and Max and Linda continued to be leaders of the Columbia Connection 4-H Club.
Max also served on the horse committee and the 4-H youth committee. Since his retirement from John Deere, Max has helped both 4-H and FFA members from Wapello and surrounding counties to restore tractors for exhibits.
Max and Linda’s grandchildren are now in 4-H. They continue to pass on their knowledge to them and any other children who ask for help.
