Carol Klindt’s lifelong involvement in 4-H began as child, when she was a member of the Lincoln Go-Getters 4-H Club. Carol has been involved in 4-H as an adult for more than 20 years, starting when her two sons, David and Dan, joined 4-H. She served as leaders of two clubs simultaneously. Her husband was also a leader, making it a family affair. Carol was a leader of the Lincoln Leaders boys club from the mid 1980’s until 1996, and a leader of the “Ears Lookin’ at Ya” rabbit club from the mid 1980’s until the dlub ended in the 1990’s.
Carol was a member and president of the Scott County Youth Committee, where she served on several committees to guide the future of 4-H.
Carol’s passion for rabbits has been a great gift to the youth of Scott County. Carol is currently the superintendent of the rabbit show, and has been for many years. She plans and presents workshops to 4-H youth who are new rabbit project members. She also has been a speaker at rabbit workshops held in Cedar County for many years.
Carol organized the Scott County Easter Bunny Show, a regional youth rabbit show held on Easter Weekend, for 14 years, from 1984-1997.
Additionally, Carol planned an educational rabbit display and fundraising event in 2002 and 2003 at South Park Mall, Moline, IL. This sixteen day event allowed youth to display their rabbits while the community learned more about 4-H.
Carol also assisted with the 4-H gardening workshops for many years. Carol Klindt is a dedicated 4-H volunteer, and has made a tremendous impact on the youth of Scott County for more than 20 years.
