John and George Crawford grew up on a farm Southwest of Clarinda and both attended country school for a time, graduating from Clarinda High School and later from Northwest Missouri State University with degrees in Ag business.
4-H was an important part of their lives, being active in their club, the Harlan Hustlers with special interest in baby beef. They continued their interest in ag with third generation ownership of the Clarinda Livestock Auction that is on the Page County fair grounds, this continued until 2008 when the 60 year family business was sold. The market was used for many 4-H activities during the fair including beef weigh-in, the fair livestock sale, and even the site of the 1st 4-H dances held during fair week.
John’s four children were involved in 4 –H and George has younger children that now are showing an interest in 4-H. George and John feel lucky to be a part the Page County wonderful 4-H tradition.
