Philip Sweers started his 4-H career in Hancock County as a junior member of the Erin Enterprisers 4-H Club. His first project was showing cattle.
In high school Phil was an active member of his club as well as served on the 4-H County Youth Council. As an adult he continued his participation in the county program by serving as a club leader for 25 years. He helped to guide the program by sitting on many district interview and record book evaluation committees and serving on the Hancock County Expansion and Review Committee as a member and later as president.
His family has established the Philip Sweers Character in Service Award honoring one Hancock County junior and one intermediate/senior member who display the character that Philip personified during his life.
