Jim & Brenda Everts have been long time supporters of the Grundy County
4-H Program. Jim was a member of the Grundy County Pleasant Valley Pals club (1958-1967), active in the beef project area. His wife Brenda is originally from Waterloo and had no connection to agriculture or 4-H until she married Jim in 1977. The Everts have 3 children; Corey, Sarah, & Andrew who were brought up through the 4-H program from 1983-1999. Their children were involved in swine, sheep, beef, dog, horse, non-livestock & communication project areas.
Eventually, Jim & Brenda became leaders of the Pleasant Valley Pals 4-H Club. The club grew large enough that Jim & Brenda were able to help start a new club called Buck Grove Buckaneers.
Jim served as a member of the Grundy County Fair Board, helped with many county fair activities and shows, is a Beef Superintendent, and Fishing Club Leader. Brenda works for the Grundy County Extension. She started out as a part time 4-H Program Assistant and is current Office Assistant. Brenda has worked in Extension for 14 years. Brenda helps prepare for 4-H programs throughout the years and is very active with Fair preparations and during the week of fair.
Jim & Brenda were also actively involved in County Pork Producers through promotions and events. They encouraged and supported their own kids in
4-H and have continued to encourage other youth to get involved and try new projects.
Jim & Brenda contribute a lot of their time and continue to come up with new ideas to share with our 4-H program during the year. It is our honor to nominate them for the Iowa State Fair Hall of Fame!
