With his father as the leader of his club, Carroll Oberman joined 4-H in 1946. His main project areas were swine and beef cattle. A highlight of his 4-H career was winning Grand Champion Pig in 1952 with a Chester White pig. Carroll returned to 4-H in 1968 when his son joined as a member. In the 1970’s he became a very active leader and continued to do so for over 10 years. Carroll spend most of the 70’s and 80’s supporting his son and daughter with their swine and beef projects. In the 1980’s Carroll became a member of the Des Moines County Fair Board and served for 20 years. Carroll was also the Des Moines County Beef Superintendent for nearly 15 years. Carroll continues to raise beef calves and bucket calves for the show ring. Carroll is very proud that his steers have received high recognition as Grand Champion Steer at the county fair.
Carroll Oberman has had a great connection with 4-H in the 1960’s, through to 2010!
