Jerry & Sylvia Spykerman are content to work and support the 4-H program quietly in the background. They enjoy doing all those little things that pull everything together – whether it be a monetary donation, filling in as a last minute judge, setting up or cleaning up for an event, or even running to the store to pick up supplies- they are a constant in the Clayton County 4-H program. This past year they helped sponsor 38 4-H members’ trip to Gettysburg, PA
.Sylvia grew up as a 4-H member in Buchanan County. She has been employed as an office assistant at the Clayton County Extension Office for the past 13 years. Sylvia is a Master Gardener and has judged gardens and food & nutrition exhibits at local county fairs. Growing up Jerry was active in the Boy Scouts and achieved top honors as an Eagle Scout. He is a retired DNR employee. Both Jerry and Sylvia enjoy gardening and cooking. They spent a number of years harness racing with their Arabian horses. They enjoy spending time with their son Mike and his wife Paula and their two granddaughters –Kaitlin and Haley. Kaitlin is a 4-H member and Haley is a Clover Kids member.
