Joe Miller was the County Extension Education Director in Lucas County for 15 years (1962-1977). Joe Miller promoted the 4-H program in Lucas County with exchange programs for members with other states and working with the livestock judging teams broadening their knowledge and experience by taking them with him to events he judged. He worked with everyone for the growth of the Lucas County Achievement Show with the addition of buildings, acquiring land, and making it an event the whole county looked forward to every year. A quote when he retired was, “Without question the greatest satisfaction has been the observation of young people coming into 4-H programs learning, developing and becoming citizens who contribute much to society in their respective communities. Many have remained in Lucas County and are respected for their leadership abilities in both agriculture and business.”
