Mary’s involvement with 4-H began at age 10 when she became a member of a newly formed girl’s Linn County 4-H club, the Dandy Doers, with her mother as a leader. Since that day, 4-H has been a part of Mary. Her only disappointment was not being able to show her beef project after her senior year of highschool because she had graduated, was 18 and already gainfully employed. Mary became the leader of the Dandy Doers when her daughters were members followed by committee work including Youth Programs and Visual Arts finally finding her way to a leader position with the Linn County Youth Council where she is today. Her commitment and dedication to 4-H is unwaivering and many youth have been positively influenced by Mary’s guidance and support. And volunteering wasn’t enough 4-H for Mary – she is also the face of Linn County 4-H as the office assistant. Linn County is fortunate and grateful to Mary. She “makes the best better” for all of us!
