2009 Butler County - Carolyn JohnsonCarolyn Johnson, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was introduced into the world of 4-H fifty years ago, and she has been involved ever since.  She and her husband, Duane Johnson, have three children: Roy and his wife Shiloh and two girls Melanie and Megan who farm with them.  Tamara is a teacher in Mason City.  Rick and his fiancée Amanda are both finishing college in a year or so.  All three children were members for 10 years and still help out with the fair activities.  Carolyn started 4-H and was involved as a member for 9 years.  She became a leader right out of high school and has been a leader for over 43 years.  She has seen many faces come and go and has enjoyed watching everyone grow over time and see their 4-H accomplishments.  Carolyn and her husband have enjoyed chaperoning trips to Chicago and Washington D.C. and then watching their children follow in their footsteps.  Carolyn and Duane have been leaders of both the Albion Go-Getters and Albion Dandy Dozens 4-H clubs, been involved in activities too numerous to mention, and look forward to watching their grandchildren come through the 4-H program in Butler County.  4-H will always have a special place in Carolyn’s life and thanks those who have made it that way for her.
